Triple Macerator Upgrade for HMP Prison
Site Challenge
PolyPump was approached by a prominent UK drainage contractor to support a Triple Macerator Upgrade for HMP Prison / YOI. This involved replacing an outdated fleet of onsite macerators and grinders, which had originally been installed to safeguard the prison’s numerous pump stations.
Sewage systems in custodial facilities face particularly tough conditions. Inmates frequently flush all manner of items down the toilets—bedding, clothing, plastic, mobile phones, bits of metal, and even improvised weapons. These materials can easily overwhelm standard sewage systems, causing costly blockages and equipment failures.
Site Solution
PolyPump, working in partnership with the drainage contractor, successfully removed the old defunct systems and installed 2x NOV TR Munchers along with 1x JWC 30K Muffin Monster (channel version), all carried out in full compliance with the stringent security protocols of the UK prison service.
