PolyPump was approached by a consultant to review smart Solids handling for resilient sustainable urban d evelopment site in Cambridge.
Eddington – North West Cambridge Development sets a benchmark in sustainable urban planning, delivering a resilient, high-quality living environment that serves both the city of Cambridge and the University community. The development comprises a mix of private rental properties, key worker accommodation, student residences, and university campus facilities.
Taking into account previous experiences at similar village-style complexes and university sites, there was a known risk of increased volumes of inappropriate items entering the wastewater system, including:
- Electronic vapes
- Condoms
- Sanitary products
- Wipes and other non-flushable materials
Such foreign objects had historically caused blockages, pump failures, increased maintenance costs, and disruption to residents.
Site Solution
Due to the combination of residential and university occupancy, PolyPump specified the installation of several Muffin Monster sewage grinders to protect the drainage infrastructure.
In partnership with MechPump Ltd, we also delivered full installation and commissioning of the units, guaranteeing reliable and efficient operation from day one.
